Synopsis
Half a War, the third novel in Joe Abercrombie's Shattered Sea trilogy, opens as the kingdom of Throvenland collapses under attack from the High King's forces, led by the merciless warrior Bright Yilling, who serves no god but Death and has already destroyed the hall of Princess Skara's grandfather. Forced to flee for her life after witnessing her family's slaughter, seventeen-year-old Skara escapes toward Gettland with the help of the morally ambiguous trader Blue Jenner, arriving with little but her wits and her claim to a throne now in ruins. There she crosses paths again with Father Yarvi, the king's minister and former slave turned political strategist, as the scattered peoples of the Shattered Sea weigh whether they can set aside old grievances to unite against the High King's advancing dominance.

Notes
- From the series record (The Shattered Sea Trilogy): A Viking-influenced YA/crossover trilogy, confirmed as a wholly separate continuity from Abercrombie's own First Law World (already admitted) -- standalone secondary-world setting, no shared characters, acquired by HarperCollins' children's/YA imprint rather than its adult fantasy line.
