Synopsis
As his third year at Hogwarts begins, Harry learns that Sirius Black, a dangerous man convicted of mass murder and believed to have served Voldemort, has escaped from the wizard prison of Azkaban. Black is rumored to be hunting Harry. With Dementors, the soul-draining guards of Azkaban, posted around the school, Harry navigates a new year alongside an unconventional Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Remus Lupin, who begins teaching him the Patronus Charm. Denied permission to visit the village of Hogsmeade, Harry receives from Fred and George Weasley a map revealing the castle's secret passages. Meanwhile Ron and Hermione quarrel over her cat Crookshanks and his rat Scabbers, while rumors about Black's connection to Harry's parents grow.
