Synopsis

Marit of Svelten has always been alone, and now she lies dying. To make her last days happy, Christoffer Volden of the Ice People declares his love for her and promises to marry her. When, against all expectation, Marit recovers, Christoffer gets cold feet: the honour of the Ice People forbids him to take back his word, but he is already engaged to the wealthy Lise-Merete Gustavsen. One of the volumes of The Legend of the Ice People, the saga of the descendants of Tengel the Evil and of their struggle between good and evil.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Legend of the Ice People): The original 47-volume saga (1982-1989) following the cursed Ice People clan across generations of Scandinavian history, marked by inherited supernatural gifts, a medallion-bound curse, and (in its later volumes) an underground kingdom where time itself runs differently. Two later continuations exist (a further ~35 volumes across two more parts, published years afterward) and are not yet catalogued here pending closer genre review.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
