Synopsis
Tip and Beau, bound by their pledge to a dying swordsman, press deeper into a world ravaged by the Foul Folk. They travel with Elves, Dwarves, mages, Silver Wolves, warrior maidens and Hidden Ones, while the armies of Modru drive events toward the crucible of the title. The book continues the two Warrows' journey east to carry out the dying man's request, and it widens the war that began in the first volume into a struggle among many peoples.
