Synopsis
Into the West is the second book of the Founding of Valdemar series. Baron Kordas and the refugees who followed him out of the old empire have outgrown their temporary shelter at Crescent Lake, and with the threat of pursuit never far behind, they set out westward in search of a permanent home. The journey takes them through a wilderness reshaped by earlier magical catastrophes, filled with mage-made hazards and the lingering remnants of destructive spellwork from a much older conflict. Kordas and his people must find a location that can sustain roughly fifteen thousand settlers, all while navigating unfamiliar terrain and deciding which of the strange beings and communities they meet along the way might become allies rather than threats. The trek tests both their dwindling resources and their resolve as they push further from everything they once knew.
