Synopsis
Mordimer Madderdin investigates a series of gruesome murders of Church dignitaries. He must work out whether the killer is a madman, a desperate person, a rogue inquisitor, or a sorcerer or demon, and whether the writer of the anonymous letters that accompany the deaths is an ally or an enemy. An anonymous letter warns that more clergy will die. The book also reveals more about the author's alternate history, including what happened to Jesus after Rome.
