Synopsis
Determined to uncover for herself the secrets behind the Tōda and the Ōjū, Elin finally obeys the royal command she has long refused and begins to breed Ōjū and train them into a great fighting force, doing one by one all the things she once swore she never would. As the war with the horse-riding Lāza over the caravan cities of the east grows fiercer, she breaks open the seals of the past while still hoping to set the beasts free and live quietly with her husband and son. The final volume asks whether the legendary catastrophe will return when the Tōda cover the land and the Ōjū fill the sky.
