Synopsis
King of Assassins is the final installment in The Wounded Kingdom trilogy, set fifteen years after the previous novel. It follows Girton Club-Foot, now 35 and serving as Death's Jester, at Castle Ceadoc: when a plague devastates the Tired Lands and kills the High King, King Rufra decides to contend for the throne, and his ambitions draw out assassins, betrayals, and old enemies, plunging Girton into a murder-mystery investigation. Now older and carrying the weight of years spent at Rufra's side, Girton must draw on skills and instincts honed since his apprenticeship while trying to protect a friend and king whose claim to the crown makes him a target for every enemy the realm still harbors.
