Synopsis

In 1365 the newly appointed Inquisitor General of Aragon, Nicolas Eymerich, is sent to Châtillon in the Aosta Valley to investigate a Cathar sect that has survived centuries of persecution. There he faces semi-human hybrids who appear to be immortal. The medieval plot is interwoven with twentieth-century threads: a Nazi scientist, Jacob Graf, who fled to Guatemala after the war, and the aftermath of the Ceausescu regime in Romania. As the storylines converge, the investigation leads toward the discovery of one of the gravest crimes against humanity.
