Synopsis
Legacies opens the Corean Chronicles on the world of Corus, generations after a magical cataclysm shattered an earlier civilization and left the land scarred by its aftermath. Alucius, the son of a rancher on the family's Nightsheep farm in the Iron Valleys, grows up carrying a secret magical Talent he has been warned since childhood to hide from outsiders. After his father dies in military service, Alucius follows the same path into his homeland's militia, where his skill and discretion soon set him apart from his fellow soldiers. During a campaign against the expansionist power of Madrien, he is captured and placed in magical bondage by the Matrial, whose armies are controlled through enchanted collars.
