Synopsis

Psychic Agent Nola O'Grady is not sure that returning to San Francisco, and living near her unusual family, is a good idea, but the Agency, an organisation so secret that even the CIA does not know it exists, has sent her home. Her assignment is to hunt what the newspapers call a werewolf killer, and she is partnered with Ari Nathan, a blunt Israeli operative seconded from Interpol and his own government, who does not believe in psychic talents and has no patience for Nola's. The killer turns out to be a real predator targeting shapeshifters, among them Nola's own brother, and behind the murders lies a Chaos-driven conspiracy that could spiral far beyond one city. Nola serves the forces of Harmony, keeping the balance between Chaos and Order; her family, a clan of psychics and shapeshifters, is a complication she cannot send away.

Notes

  • From the series record (Nola O'Grady): Katharine Kerr's urban fantasy of psychic agent Nola O'Grady of the Agency, an organisation so secret even the CIA does not know it exists, and her Israeli partner Ari Nathan, keeping the balance between Chaos and Order in a San Francisco full of werewolves, alternate dimensions and Nola's own unmanageable family. Four novels (DAW, 2011-2012); the publisher declined further volumes.
