Synopsis
Limits of Power opens on catastrophe in Lyonya: the elven queen known as the Lady has been murdered by former elves corrupted by dark powers, and her half-elven grandson, King Kieri, must now try to heal the deep mistrust between elves and humans before their enemies can strike again, all while preparing his kingdom for further attack. Across the wider Eight Kingdoms, magic that had been absent for centuries begins reappearing unpredictably in ordinary families, rich and poor alike, and in regions where old religious strictures forbid magery, fanatics respond by hunting down and killing anyone who shows the least sign of it, including children. Amid this spreading unrest, a determined traitor works to sabotage any hope of peace, and it falls to a handful of resolute protagonists to try to hold the fracturing kingdoms together.
