Synopsis
Seventeen-year-old Tennessee Russo grew up as the sidekick on his father's archaeology adventure show, until a quarrel over the ethics of selling artifacts drove the two apart. Now his boyfriend has cheated on him and his life is unravelling when his father reappears with an offer: a hunt for the Rings of the Sacred Band of Thebes, a legendary troop of ancient Greek soldiers made up of paired lovers. Tennessee agrees to go, hoping to show that queer love has a place in the historical record. The search takes him through ruins and traps and into a new romance, while rumors of the rings' magical powers draw dangerous attention, and he has to decide whom he can trust and who has the right to claim the past.
