Synopsis
Master Alvin continues the Tales of Alvin Maker, following Alvin further along the path toward completing the Crystal City and confronting the full scope of the Unmaker's opposition after the foundational efforts of the preceding novel. Now recognized as a Maker of considerable skill and standing among those who understand his gifts, Alvin must reconcile the responsibilities of leadership and teaching with the unfinished struggle against the force that has shadowed his entire life since his birth as a seventh son. The novel carries forward the series' alternate-history frontier setting and its blend of folk magic and moral reckoning, continuing the long arc begun in Seventh Son toward the fate of the Crystal City and Alvin's own maturing role within it.
