Synopsis
In 1950s Mexico City, the young socialite Noemi Taboada receives a frantic letter from her newly married cousin Catalina, who writes that her English husband, Virgil Doyle, is poisoning her. Noemi's father sends her to High Place, the Doyle family's isolated mansion in the mountains near the town of El Triunfo, to find out what is happening. She finds a damp, decaying house ruled by a controlling family that does not welcome questions. As she investigates, she is troubled by nightmares and hallucinations, and by a growing sense that the house is tied to the family's bloody past and has a hold on Catalina. Noemi must decide how far she will go to get her cousin out.
