Synopsis
Mistborn: The Final Empire is set on the ash-choked world of Scadrial, where the immortal Lord Ruler has governed a rigid, oppressive society for a thousand years. Vin, a street urchin who has learned to survive through cunning and a hidden magical talent, is recruited by Kelsier, a half-skaa thief who escaped the Lord Ruler's most notorious labor camp. Kelsier assembles a crew of skilled allies for an audacious plan to bring down the Final Empire by draining its treasury and turning its own nobility against itself, hoping to spark a rebellion among the oppressed skaa underclass. As Vin trains to master her abilities as a Mistborn, capable of drawing power from ingested metals, she is sent to infiltrate the aristocracy by posing as a noblewoman at the city's balls, gathering information even as she begins to question where her loyalties truly lie.
