Synopsis

Mordew, published by Alex Pheby in 2020, opens the Cities of the Weft trilogy in a world where reality itself is woven from a substance called weft, organized into an archipelago of cities each ruled by a single, all-powerful Master or Mistress. Nathan Treeves is a boy scraping by in the slums of the city of Mordew, sent by his desperate mother to work dangerous, degrading jobs to help support his ailing father, in the shadow of the Master's looming, mysterious rule over the city. When Nathan discovers he possesses extraordinary magical abilities that may rival those of the Master of Mordew himself, he is drawn out of the slums and into the Master's orbit, setting in motion events that place him at the center of Mordew's carefully maintained order.
