Synopsis

Joanne Walker turns from her Celtic heritage to her Native American roots when she returns to the Cherokee reservation where she grew up. She teams up with Sara Isaac, a former friend, to look into a howling that only Native Americans can hear and that seems to warn of something large and dangerous. The case brings together apocalyptic supernatural threats and Joanne's own unfinished business: her history with Sara, and her worry about Aiden, the son she placed for adoption when she was a teenager. Her former boss, Mike Morrison, comes back into the story as well, and Joanne has to deal with obstructive soldiers and health officials while she tries to find the source of the sound.
