Synopsis

Mia Corvere is the last surviving daughter of a noble house destroyed by the powerful figures who rule the Republic of Itreya. Left for dead as a child, she discovers she can commune with shadows, a gift tied to being one of the rare Darkin. Taken in and trained by the mentor Mercurio, Mia is eventually admitted to the Red Church, the deadliest order of assassins in the Republic, devoted to Niah, Goddess of Night, also called Our Lady of Blessed Murder. Competing against fellow initiates in brutal trials toward becoming a Blade of the Church, she must survive both the institution's lethal tests and a killer stalking its halls, all while nurturing her hidden Darkin abilities and her long-held plans for vengeance against those who destroyed her family.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Nevernight Chronicle): A single continuous trilogy following assassin Mia Corvere; a genuinely separate universe from Jay Kristoff's already-admitted Empire of the Vampire, sharing no setting, characters, or continuity.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.

  • Publication order, within the series The Nevernight Chronicle: position 1 of 3: next Godsgrave (2017)
