Synopsis
The women of the Hansen family can fly, and the gift is treated as both a blessing and a danger. Their strict Grandmother keeps the family safe with firm rules and taboos, and every girl must make a ceremonial first solo flight. Georgia, nearly sixteen, is getting ready for hers. The week before the ceremony, her aunt Carmen arrives. Carmen refuses to follow the family's rules and soon disturbs the settled routine of the house. Through her, Georgia begins to ask questions about her family's past and about the circumstances of her own birth. As the day of the flight approaches, Georgia has to decide between the protection her grandmother offers and the freedom her aunt stands for, and what kind of flier she wants to be.
