Overview
Night Flying is a single fantasy novel by American author Rita Murphy, first published by Delacorte in November 2000 and her first novel. It follows the Hansen women, a family in which the women can fly. The story is told through Georgia, who is nearly sixteen and preparing for the ceremonial first solo flight that the family's strict Grandmother requires of every girl. Her aunt Carmen, who breaks the family rules, arrives the week before the flight and unsettles the household, and Georgia begins to learn the truth about her own birth. The book stands alone, with no sequel, and the author's other novels are not described by the sources as set in the same world.
