Synopsis
The second book of the Vows and Honor trilogy finds Tarma and Kethry serving with a company of mercenaries, the Sunhawks, under the command of their leader Idra. When Idra sets out on a personal journey to her homeland in the kingdom of Rethwellan and fails to return, the sword-sister and sorceress abandon their other business to search for her, fearing some ill fortune has befallen their commander. Their investigation draws them deeper into the politics and dangers of Rethwellan, a land already troubled by the growing shadow of an unspecified evil. As warrior and mage, Tarma and Kethry must combine their complementary skills to trace Idra's fate and confront whatever force may be responsible for her disappearance, all while navigating a kingdom whose loyalties and dangers are not always what they first appear.
