Synopsis
Raised in her father's curiosity shop, Evangeline Fox grew up on legends about immortals like the tragic Prince of Hearts, and for as long as she can remember she has believed in true love and happy endings, until she learns that the love of her life is about to marry another: her boyfriend, Luc, unexpectedly proposes to her stepsister. Desperate to stop the wedding and heal her wounded heart, she strikes a deal with the charismatic but wicked Prince of Hearts, the immortal Fate known as Jacks, who halts the ceremony in exchange for three kisses of his choosing. But after her first promised kiss, Evangeline learns that bargaining with an immortal is a dangerous game, and that he wants far more from her than she pledged: plans that will end in the greatest happily ever after or the most exquisite tragedy. The first book of a trilogy spun off from Caraval, set partly in the Magnificent North.
