Synopsis
Owl is a shape-shifter: it is her name as well as her nature. By night she takes her owl form and hunts for mice and rabbits, but by day she is an ordinary girl, more or less, who goes to high school. At fourteen she suffers an everyday affliction: she is in love with her science teacher, Mr. Lindstrom, and spends her nights mooning around outside his window. Narrated by turns from the perspective of a bird and of an adolescent misfit making her first attempts at human friendship, her story leads her into new relationships with both humans and owls.
