Synopsis
Page is the second book in the Protector of the Small quartet. Having survived her probationary year, Keladry of Mindelan continues her page training with Lord Wyldon's grudging permission, still facing resentment from some of her male peers, particularly the hostile Joren. She builds a close circle of friends, including Neal, Merric, Cleon, and Owen, who stand with her against bullying in the pages' ranks, and she takes in Lalasa, a mistreated servant girl, along with a stray dog named Jump and a clutch of orphaned sparrows. As Kel advances through increasingly demanding lessons in jousting, archery, and weapons work, her leadership and courage are tested most directly in a major training exercise that becomes a turning point for how her fellow pages and superiors see her.
