Synopsis
The eleventh Valdemar short-story anthology gathers original tales from series creator Mercedes Lackey and more than twenty other contributing authors. Following the format of the earlier anthologies, the book has no single overarching plot, instead presenting a range of independent stories about Heralds, their telepathically bonded Companions, and other residents of the kingdom as they navigate duty, danger, and personal choices. As in previous volumes, some stories continue characters and miniseries carried over from earlier books in the series, while others stand alone, together offering readers a wider view of the people, places, and everyday challenges that make up life in Valdemar beyond the events of Lackey's main novels.
