Synopsis
The tenth short-story anthology set in Valdemar, edited and partly written by series creator Mercedes Lackey, brings together original tales from more than twenty contributing authors alongside her own work. Continuing the pattern established by earlier volumes in the anthology line, the book is a collection of independent stories rather than a single continuous plot, following Heralds, their Companions, and other inhabitants of the kingdom through a variety of personal and magical challenges. Several stories extend character arcs and miniseries introduced in previous anthologies, while others introduce new figures and situations, together broadening the picture of Valdemar's people, its neighboring lands, and the responsibilities carried by those bonded to the kingdom's magical protectors.
