Synopsis
Weakened by his long contact with mortals, the Archangel Raphael falls prey to his brother Lucifer, who strips him of his angelic powers and casts him into the world as a man. Sold in the slave markets of Moorish Spain, confused and humbled by his sudden humanity, with its hunger, pain and fear, Raphael finds his only solace in the friendship of Djoura, a proud Berber woman enslaved beside him, and in the spiritual guardianship of his former pupil Damiano. Meanwhile Saara, the pagan witch who loved Damiano, sets out with the rakish Gaspare and an ancient black dragon to find and rescue the fallen angel. Their odyssey leads them toward a confrontation with the Father of Lies and a reckoning with destiny that closes the trilogy begun in Damiano.
