Synopsis

Road of the Patriarch concludes the Sellswords Trilogy, picking up after the events at Zhengyi's reconstituted castle in the previous book, as both the Spysong network and the Citadel of Assassins demand a reckoning from Artemis Entreri and Jarlaxle, along with their dwarf companion Athrogate, for the associates lost during that earlier adventure. Forced to answer for the fallout, the two mercenaries find old secrets from their pasts resurfacing, including long-buried truths about Entreri's and Jarlaxle's respective childhoods and Athrogate's own history. Amid the pressure from rival factions, Entreri finds himself drawn into an unexpected romantic entanglement with the half-elf warrior Calihye, a notable departure from his usual guarded detachment, setting the stage for a trilogy-closing reckoning with both external enemies and the two men's long-suppressed pasts.

  • The Sellswords #3 (Entreri & Jarlaxle)
  • From the series record (The Legend of Drizzt (author line)): R.A. Salvatore's 40-novel line (1988-2025), incl. The Sellswords; sub-series recorded per book. Continues with Drizzt's daughter (2025-).

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
