Synopsis
The concluding volume of the trilogy, School of Shards finds Sasha Samokhina now serving as provost of the institute that once trained her, only to face a crisis among its own students, who are struggling to master the same demanding curriculum she herself endured years earlier. Beneath this immediate problem lies a deeper danger: the underlying linguistic structure that gives the institute's reality its stability is degrading, threatening the world Sasha now oversees. To address the crisis, Sasha must recruit several people who carry fragments of her former life, forcing her to weigh how far she is willing to go, and what she is willing to risk, to keep the reality she helped build from collapsing entirely.

Notes
- From the series record (Vita Nostra): Original Russian sequence (Metamorphoses) ran longer; the English-translation sequence (Julia Meitov Hersey, HarperVoyager) collects books 1, 4, and 5 of the Russian original as a self-contained trilogy, following the translator/publisher's own packaging rather than the Russian numbering.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
