Synopsis
The thirteenth Valdemar anthology, edited by series creator Mercedes Lackey, collects original short stories from Lackey and more than a dozen other authors. As with the rest of the anthology line, the book has no single continuous plot, instead offering independent tales of Heralds, their Companions, and other residents of the kingdom as they navigate the seasons of their lives and duties. Several stories continue character arcs and miniseries carried over from earlier volumes in the series, while others introduce new figures and situations, together adding further texture to Valdemar's people, magic, and the responsibilities carried by those bonded to its protectors, without following one overarching storyline across the collection.
