Synopsis
Sebastian is an incubus, the illegitimate child of a succubus and a wizard. Because he has always had to flee the towns where he settles, he has never had a real home. He now lives in the Den of Iniquity, a carnival-like landscape created by his rogue cousin Glorianna Belladonna, a place where demons can live. Tired of his hedonistic life, Sebastian longs for love, and that longing is answered by Lynnea, whose arrival brings change. The novel is the first in Anne Bishop's Ephemera series, set in a world of living landscapes, and it introduces the setting and the conflict between Light and Dark that runs through the later books.
