Synopsis
Severed Souls finds Richard and Kahlan afflicted by a supernatural corruption known as the Hedge Maid's stain of death, a magical affliction they must find a way to cure before it claims them. At the same time, the newly introduced antagonists Hannis Arc and Emperor Sulachan are marching an army toward the heart of D'Hara, intent on conquest. Richard and Kahlan must balance the deeply personal struggle to survive their own magical infection against the mounting military threat bearing down on their homeland, drawing on allies old and new as the danger from the Dark Lands continues to escalate. First published in 2014, Severed Souls belongs to the Sword of Truth series.
Where it sits
- Universe: Sword of Truth
- Series: Sword of Truth (main sequence) core; position 14 of 15 in the series' recorded order
- Author: Terry Goodkind
Notes
- From the series record (Sword of Truth (main sequence)): 15-novel continuous main sequence; publication order equals internal chronology throughout. Correction: The Pillars of Creation's first US edition is 2001 (Nov 20), not 2002 as some secondary listings state; 2002 is a paperback/reprint date bleeding into 'first publication' fields.
Neighbouring works
Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
- Reading order, within the series Sword of Truth (main sequence): position 14 of 15: previous The Third Kingdom (2013) · next Warheart (2015)
