Synopsis
The Third Kingdom picks up after the four-book sequence centered on the omen machine, as mysterious "half people" emerging from the Dark Lands launch an attack that leaves several of Richard and Kahlan's companions stranded and separated from them. Richard and Kahlan set out to locate and rescue their scattered friends, a search that draws them into contact with a sinister new figure, Bishop Hannis Arc, whose motives and origins remain largely unknown. The encounter signals that a fresh threat, distinct from the Imperial Order defeated in earlier books, is emerging from territory Richard and Kahlan have never before had to contend with, widening the scope of dangers facing their people.
