Synopsis

Shapechangers opens the Chronicles of the Cheysuli in the kingdom of Homana, introducing Alix, the daughter of a forbidden union between a Homanan princess and a warrior of the Cheysuli, a persecuted people with the magical ability to shapeshift into animal forms and bond for life with an animal companion called a lir. Raised largely apart from her father's people, Alix begins to discover and grapple with her own latent shapeshifting magic just as tensions between the Cheysuli and the ruling Homanan authorities, who have long hunted and oppressed the Cheysuli out of fear of their power, are reaching a breaking point. Her growing awareness of her heritage draws her into the heart of a conflict between the two peoples and forces her to decide where her loyalties truly lie.

Notes

  • From the series record (Chronicles of the Cheysuli): One continuous eight-book saga, all Core Canon; publication order and internal chronology agree (each volume advances the same generational timeline in the order published).

Neighbouring works

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
