Synopsis
Shiver, published in 2009, the first novel in The Wolves of Mercy Falls series, is set in the fictional town of Mercy Falls and follows Grace Brisbane, a teenage girl fascinated for years by the wolves in the woods behind her house, ever since one saved her from an attack by the pack as a child. Grace becomes convinced that one particular yellow-eyed wolf has been watching over her, and when a local teenager is killed by wolves, tensions rise between the townspeople and the pack. Grace's fixation deepens when she meets Sam Roth, a boy who reveals he is that same wolf, cursed to shift between human and wolf form with the seasons, spending each winter as an animal and only a limited number of years before the change becomes permanent. As the two grow close, the approaching cold threatens to take Sam from her for good.
