Synopsis

Set across two timelines in 1939-40, the story follows the evil Tengel waking from his long dormancy and vanishing from his cave, with hints that his influence helps spark the outbreak of World War II. Meanwhile Karine Volden, still carrying the hidden trauma of a childhood assault, is drawn into the Norwegian resistance movement by her brother Jonathan; when something goes badly wrong, he ends up in a German concentration camp, leaving her wracked with guilt as the Ice People try to track down Tengel.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Legend of the Ice People): The original 47-volume saga (1982-1989) following the cursed Ice People clan across generations of Scandinavian history, marked by inherited supernatural gifts, a medallion-bound curse, and (in its later volumes) an underground kingdom where time itself runs differently. Two later continuations exist (a further ~35 volumes across two more parts, published years afterward) and are not yet catalogued here pending closer genre review.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
