Synopsis
The thirty-seventh book of The Legend of the Ice People, published in Swedish as Stad i skräck and in English as The City of Horror. On an icy cold day in January 1937 death comes to the Norwegian town of Halden, quite literally, as a stowaway on board a ship from Rotterdam. Among the many whose lives are at stake is the self-effacing and cowed Vinnie Dahlen. Rikard Brink of the Ice People, the descendants of Tengel the Evil, is a policeman, and he is given the task of curbing the catastrophe; to do so, he must first win the confidence of the timid Vinnie.

- From the series record (The Legend of the Ice People): The original 47-volume saga (1982-1989) following the cursed Ice People clan across generations of Scandinavian history, marked by inherited supernatural gifts, a medallion-bound curse, and (in its later volumes) an underground kingdom where time itself runs differently. Two later continuations exist (a further ~35 volumes across two more parts, published years afterward) and are not yet catalogued here pending closer genre review.
