Synopsis
Snake-Eater is a stand-alone contemporary fantasy that opens as Selena flees an emotionally abusive fiance, taking her dog and heading for the remote home of her aunt Amelia in the Western town of Quartz Creek, only to arrive and learn that Amelia died a year earlier. With nowhere else to go, Selena stays on in the abandoned house, where the town's mayor offers her continued shelter, and she begins reading through her aunt's old travel journals. Those journals reveal that Amelia once made a promise to an ancient, little-known deity called Snake-Eater, a promise she never fulfilled, and Selena gradually realizes that this god has fixed his attention on her instead and intends to collect everything he believes he is owed.
