Synopsis
A young harpist named Imp y Celyn arrives in Ankh-Morpork hoping to make his name, but finding himself unable to afford the Musicians' Guild's fees, he joins forces with a troll and a dwarf to form an unlicensed band. After his harp is destroyed, he picks up a strange guitar carrying within it the memory of a primal, world-shaping kind of music, and begins performing under the name Buddy. The music proves to have a will of its own, sustaining Buddy through danger and spreading a contagious, addictive influence across the city that pushes other musicians and their fans into increasingly wild behavior.
