Synopsis
Stone of Tears picks up immediately after Wizard's First Rule, dealing with the fallout of the Boxes of Orden having been opened. The veil separating the world of the living from the underworld tears open, releasing the Keeper's minions into the world, while the invading Imperial Order under Emperor Jagang begins pressing into the Midlands. Richard, now revealed as a war wizard, is captured by the Sisters of the Light and taken across the sea to the Old World to be trained and controlled, separating him from Kahlan, who must rally the Midlands against Jagang's advancing armies on her own. As Richard struggles to master his untamed gift under the Sisters' watch, both he and Kahlan face escalating threats from the Keeper of the underworld and from Jagang's forces, each working toward goals that could doom the world of the living.

Notes
- From the series record (Sword of Truth (main sequence)): 15-novel continuous main sequence; publication order equals internal chronology throughout. Correction: The Pillars of Creation's first US edition is 2001 (Nov 20), not 2002 as some secondary listings state; 2002 is a paperback/reprint date bleeding into 'first publication' fields.
Neighbouring works
