Synopsis

Blood of the Fold continues directly from the events of Stone of Tears, as Richard accepts his identity as a war wizard and claims the throne of D'Hara in an effort to unify the fractured Midlands against Emperor Jagang's advancing Imperial Order. Beast-like assassins known as Mriswith begin stalking Richard and his allies even as Kahlan is seized by the Blood of the Fold, a militant religious faction of magic-haters being secretly manipulated by Jagang for his own purposes. With Kahlan held captive in the Old World, Richard must lead a rescue effort that also aims to strike at the Palace of the Prophets, denying Jagang access to its knowledge and treasures before the Imperial Order can use them to tip the war in its favor.

Where it sits

Notes

  • From the series record (Sword of Truth (main sequence)): 15-novel continuous main sequence; publication order equals internal chronology throughout. Correction: The Pillars of Creation's first US edition is 2001 (Nov 20), not 2002 as some secondary listings state; 2002 is a paperback/reprint date bleeding into 'first publication' fields.

Neighbouring works

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
