Synopsis

Streams of Silver, the second book of the Icewind Dale Trilogy, follows directly on from The Crystal Shard as the dwarf Bruenor assembles a company to reclaim Mithral Hall, the lost ancestral stronghold of his clan somewhere in the Northlands. Drizzt Do'Urden, Wulfgar, the halfling Regis, and the young woman Catti-brie join Bruenor on the journey, but Regis's past catches up with the group: he still carries a magical ruby stolen from the crime lord Pasha Pook, who has dispatched the deadly assassin Artemis Entreri to retrieve it and punish the thief. As the company treks toward Mithral Hall, they are also pursued by Dendybar the Mottled, an ambitious wizard convinced that Drizzt holds the legendary Crystal Shard from the previous book. Hunted from multiple directions and racing against time, the companions must reach their destination before their enemies close in.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
