Synopsis
Suldrun's Garden, the first novel of Jack Vance's Lyonesse trilogy, is set in the mythical Elder Isles during the Dark Ages, a generation or two before the birth of King Arthur, and weaves together several storylines centered on the rival kingdoms scattered across the archipelago. Suldrun, daughter of the scheming King Casmir of Lyonesse, is confined to a secluded garden after refusing the arranged marriage her father has planned for her to Faude Carfilhiot, a nobleman who is himself pursuing magical power with the aid of the sorcerer Tamurello. Meanwhile Prince Aillas of Troicinet, betrayed and cast into the sea during a diplomatic voyage, arrives unexpectedly at Lyonesse and comes into contact with Suldrun's isolated world.

Notes
- From the series record (Lyonesse): Core Canon = all 3 novels of the completed trilogy (Berkley, 1983; Underwood-Miller, 1985 and 1989). Confirmed a separate, unrelated universe from Vance's The Dying Earth, already in this canon -- different world, different continuity; both records are cross-referenced as being by the same author.
