Synopsis
Fritti Tailchaser is a young ginger tomcat of the Folk, living feral on the edge of a town of M'an, the strange, furless upright creatures whom cat legend remembers as kin twisted by an ancient curse. He is ambitious in a small way, content with his rooftops, his friends at the Meeting Wall and his companion Hushpad. Then cats begin to vanish from the district, and among them Hushpad and the family of M'an who fed her. When the local elders send a delegation to the royal court at Harar to report the disappearances, Tailchaser sets out on his own to find her, gathering companions on the way, the kitten Pouncequick and the mad old cat Eatbugs among them. His road leads far beyond anything the Folk know, toward the source of the evil that is swallowing his kind, and into the legends of the feline gods themselves.
