Synopsis
Jenny Gluckstein is a moody thirteen-year-old living in New York City with her divorced mother, Sally, and her beloved cat, Mister Cat. When her mother marries Evan, an Englishman with two sons, the whole family moves to Stourhead Farm in Dorset, a three-hundred-year-old manor house in need of restoration, and Jenny is far from pleased. Slowly she begins to notice the strange inhabitants of the farm and the countryside around it, among them a pooka and the Billy Blind of English folklore. Above all she meets Tamsin Willoughby, the ghost of the daughter of the farm's original owner, who has haunted Stourhead for more than three hundred years. Helping her draws Jenny into the dark history of the region at the time of the Monmouth Rebellion.
