Synopsis

Taran Wanderer picks up about a year after The Castle of Llyr, with Taran setting out to learn the truth of his own parentage, hoping to discover that he is of noble birth so that he might be considered a worthy match for Princess Eilonwy. His search takes him across Prydain to visit communities of craftsmen, farmers, and wandering folk far removed from the court intrigues and battles of the earlier books, while, in a separate thread, the sorcerer Morda menaces the underground realms of the Fair Folk. Through the people he meets and the work he learns to do with his own hands, Taran is pushed to reconsider what really defines a person's worth, apart from the answer to the question he set out to find.
