Synopsis

The Castle of Llyr takes place about eighteen months after the previous novel, when Princess Eilonwy is sent away from Caer Dallben to the royal court on the Isle of Mona to receive a proper education befitting her station. Before she can settle in, she is kidnapped, and Taran, together with the well-meaning but accident-prone Prince Rhun and their usual companions, sets out to find and rescue her. The search draws them into older mysteries tied to Eilonwy's own ancestry and the magical heritage she carries, forcing Taran to reckon with how much about his friend, and about Prydain's deeper history, remains unknown to him.
