Synopsis
Sir Adam Sinclair is a Scottish nobleman, physician and scholar who is also an Adept, a practitioner of ancient arts unknown to the twentieth century. He has lived many lives under many names, and his mission is to protect the Light from those who walk the Dark Roads. In modern Scotland an unholy cult of black magicians threatens the country he loves, and its members will commit any atrocity, including raising the dead, to reach their goals. With his friends, among them the portrait painter Peregrine Lovat, who senses echoes of Adam's past lives, Sinclair investigates as the mystery takes on life-and-death stakes.
