Synopsis
Fifteen-year-old twins Sophie and Josh Newman are spending the summer in San Francisco working ordinary jobs, Sophie at a coffee shop and Josh at the bookshop across the street, when they discover that the bookshop’s owner, Nick Fleming, is really Nicholas Flamel, the immortal French alchemist born in 1330. When Dr John Dee, Flamel’s old enemy and servant of the Dark Elders, attacks the shop and seizes the Codex, the ancient book that holds the secret of alchemy and everlasting life, Josh manages to keep two of its pages: the Final Summoning that Dee needs to bring his masters back. Flamel believes the twins may be the Gold and Silver twins of an ancient prophecy, destined to save the world or destroy it, and the three of them flee into a hidden world of immortals, gods and monsters.
